We are currently recruiting for PhD positions in Condensed Matter Physics. We offer a stimulating environment as well as unique experimental facilities to pursue cutting edge research in imaging of the emergent electronic states in quantum materials. Research topics include spectroscopy and imaging of the electronic states in quantum materials in real and reciprocal space, thermodynamic measurements of designer heterostructures, growth of designer quantum materials as well as imaging of magnetic order at the atomic scale in quantum critical matter and spin textures in momentum space. Projects involve varying degrees of experiment design, high-level measurements and advanced data analysis and simulations. More information on the activities of the group can be found at www.cdqm.uk.
PhD positions are for 3.5-4 years, and include opportunities for training through advanced courses.
We are looking for candidates who want to pursue a PhD in Condensed Matter Physics and that have (i) a strong academic track record and (ii) the ability and motivation to benefit from the courses and research opportunities offered.
Places are available from a variety of funding sources for UK students or EU citizens who have spent at least 3 years in full-time study in the UK, and in exceptional cases for overseas students.
